Ingredients
1 kg floury potatoes (Russet or white – perfect for a fluffy mash)
500 ml whole milk (secret of extra creaminess)
40 g butter (or more… grandma won’t judge )
Salt to taste
Freshly grated nutmeg (optional)
Grated Parmesan (optional but sooo good!)
How to Make the Perfect Purée
1️⃣ Peel & cut the potatoes
Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal medium pieces.
Same size = even cooking = perfect texture.
2️⃣ Cook with milk (not water!)
Place potatoes in a heavy-bottom pot.
Pour in milk until it almost covers them.
Add a pinch of salt.
3️⃣ Slow cooking = magic
Cook on low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring gently.
The potatoes absorb the milk, becoming rich and creamy.
4️⃣ Add butter & flavor
When tender, turn off heat.
Stir in butter 🧈, nutmeg 🌰, and Parmesan 🧀 if using.
5️⃣ Mash gently
Mash until smooth and lump-free.
Don’t overmix or it will turn sticky.
6️⃣ Serve & enjoy
Serve hot with a little extra butter on top 🤍
